FTP — For The People Roadside Assistance

Terms & Service Policies — Draft

1. Service Availability

FTP services are subject to technician availability, location, weather, road conditions, vehicle condition, equipment and parts availability, and safety considerations. Estimated arrival times are estimates only and are not guaranteed.

2. Right to Refuse or Discontinue Service

FTP reserves the right to decline, postpone, or discontinue service for legitimate business or safety reasons, including unsafe roadside conditions; requests outside FTP's service area or capabilities; inability to verify ownership, possession, or authorization; threatening, abusive, or dangerous conduct; unlawful requests; unavailable parts or equipment; or conditions that make service unsafe or impractical.

FTP will not refuse service for an unlawful discriminatory reason.

3. Vehicle Lockout Authorization

Before performing a lockout, FTP may require government-issued identification and reasonable evidence that the customer owns, possesses, or is authorized to access the vehicle.

4. Estimates, Repairs, and Customer Authorization

For diagnostic, maintenance, and repair services, the customer must authorize the specific work before repairs begin. If additional repairs, parts, or charges become necessary, FTP will provide the updated information and obtain additional authorization before performing the additional work.

Customers should receive an estimate or applicable posted-price disclosure and a final invoice as required by California law.

5. Pricing and Parts

Website prices are starting or base prices unless expressly stated otherwise. Fuel, batteries, replacement parts, taxes, mileage charges, long-distance dispatch, and customer-authorized additional work may increase the final total.

For brake service, customers may provide their own compatible parts. When FTP supplies replacement parts, the cost of those parts will be added to the authorized service total and will vary by vehicle and current parts pricing.

6. Customer-Supplied Parts

FTP may decline to install customer-supplied parts that appear incompatible, damaged, unsafe, incorrect, previously used where inappropriate, or unsuitable for the requested repair. Any warranty on customer-supplied parts remains the customer's responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing.

7. Membership and Warranty

FTP membership benefits, service-call limits, eligibility rules, battery warranty coverage, exclusions, and renewal terms will be governed by the membership terms presented at enrollment. Battery warranty benefits are available only to eligible FTP members under the applicable membership and warranty terms.

8. Roadside and Emergency Safety

FTP is not an emergency-response provider. Customers should call 911 for injuries, fire, collisions creating immediate danger, criminal activity, or other emergencies. Customers are responsible for following law-enforcement and emergency-personnel instructions.

9. Location and Personal Information

Customers who submit GPS coordinates or other location information authorize FTP to use that information for dispatch, technician routing, service coordination, customer communication, and service records.

10. Customer Reviews

Reviews submitted through the FTP website may be reviewed before publication. FTP may decline to publish reviews containing personal information, threats, unlawful material, spam, or content unrelated to a genuine customer experience. FTP should not alter the substance of a published customer review without the customer's permission.

11. California Automotive Repair Compliance

FTP will comply with applicable California automotive-repair licensing, estimate, authorization, invoice, mobile-repair, and recordkeeping requirements for services that fall within those laws.

Important: This is a working business-policy draft, not legal advice. Before FTP launches publicly, have a California attorney and the California Bureau of Automotive Repair licensing resources review the final terms, membership warranty, and mobile-mechanic workflow.
